Yeast Epigenetics Analysis
Epigenetics mainly studies the heritable changes in gene expression regulation and traits without changing the nucleotide sequence. The action pathways of epigenetics include chromatin remodeling, DNA methylation, histone modification, RNA methylation, and regulation of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs). These epigenetic factors (pathways) interact to regulate gene expression and control cell phenotype, all of these epigenetic factors (pathways) are necessary to maintain the stability of the body's internal environment and contribute to normal physiological functions.
As a single-celled eukaryote, yeast is one of the earliest species to carry out epigenetic research, especially in DNA damage repair and heterochromatin formation. The previous international reports on epigenetics using yeast as a model organism mainly focused on the field of histone modification. Recently, more and more researches on yeast epigenetics have been conducted.
