Yeast Protein Chip Service
Yeast is a single-celled eukaryotic organism. It is an important model organism in the fields of genetics, metabolism and gene function. It is also one of the first species to complete genome sequencing. The complete genome of Saccharomyces cerevisiae is 12068 kb, with 5885 open reading frames (ORFs) encoding proteins. In yeast and mammals, a large number of genes encode similar proteins. Among them, many genes involved in hereditary diseases have high homology. Studying the physiological functions of the proteins encoded by these genes and their interactions with other proteins will contribute to a better understanding of these inherited diseases. Zhu and other scientists obtained more than 5800 yeast proteins through recombinant expression and prepared them into protein chips, which provided a powerful tool for related scientific research.
