Shotgun Analysis Service for Yeast Protein
Shotgun analysis, also known as protein full-spectrum analysis, or protein components analysis, which can identify as many peptides and protein molecules as possible. The principle is to use shotgun technology to perform full-spectrum analysis of proteins. Firstly, a complex mixture of protein molecules in solution or SDS-PAGE bands is digested into a mixture of peptide fragments. Secondly, the peptides were separated by liquid chromatography (LC). Then, the peptides were identified using tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). This enables protein identification. Finally, the corresponding database is used to search and match, and hundreds of proteins can be identified at the same time.
Shotgun protein analysis can identify the entire protein of a sample, and can identify hundreds to thousands of proteins simultaneously. It is mainly applied to the identification of all expressed proteins in tissues, cells or organelles under a certain physiological state.
