Methylated Proteomic Analysis of Yeast
Protein methylation is one of the important research contents of epigenetics and one of the most common protein post-translational modifications. Methylation occurs mostly on transcription factors and nuclear proteins, but also on cytoplasmic proteins. Methylation can occur on arginine (R) and lysine (K), including monomethylation, asymmetric dimethylation / symmetric dimethylation, trimethylation and many other forms. Arginine methylation can regulate processes such as RNA processing, gene transcription, DNA damage repair, protein translocation and signal transduction. ysine methylation regulates histone function and participates in the epigenetic regulation of gene transcription. After enriching methylated peptides with specific antibodies against different methylation sites and modified forms, combined with LC - MS / MS analysis, large-scale quantitative and qualitative analysis of methylated proteins can be achieved.
